# Dustin Johnson's WITB: a free agent's mix-and-match bag

> Unsigned since parting with TaylorMade after eighteen years, Johnson now plays a Titleist driver above TaylorMade woods, his old DJ-proto irons and Cleveland wedges.

**Setup verified:** 2026-07-08

Dustin Johnson has been an equipment free agent since parting with TaylorMade in 2024 after 18 years, and the bag shows it. The driver is a Titleist GTS2 at 10° with a Fujikura Ventus Black 6 X shaft; everything from the 3-wood down through the irons is still TaylorMade, including a set of P730 DJ Proto blades built specifically for him, and the ball remains a TaylorMade TP5x.

The stand-out feature is the top of the bag: no long irons at all above the 5-iron, and three fairway woods instead — a 16.5° 3HL, a 21° 7-wood and a 24° 9-wood. For a player who spent a career being the longest man in most fields, a 9-wood is a notable concession to keeping the ball in front of him and landing it soft.

## Notes

Dating: the newest source we could verify is Today's Golfer's update of 8 July 2026, cross-checked against Golf Monthly (19 June 2026) and LIV Golf's own bag check from Maaden LIV Golf Virginia in June 2026. Where those disagree we have said so in the relevant slot rather than picking a favourite.

Johnson has been a free agent on clubs since leaving TaylorMade in 2024 after 18 years, which is why the bag mixes Titleist at the driver and (per LIV) Cleveland at the wedges with TaylorMade through the middle.

The most useful thing to copy here is not a club but a shape: three fairway woods above a 5-iron. It is the same high-loft, soft-landing long-game answer that has spread across the men's game, and Johnson is one of the more surprising adopters.

## FAQ

### What driver does Dustin Johnson use?

A Titleist GTS2 at 10° with a Fujikura Ventus Black 6 X shaft, per bag checks from June and July 2026. LIV Golf's own earlier 2026 check listed the previous-generation GT2 in the same loft and shaft.

### What ball does Dustin Johnson play?

A TaylorMade TP5x. He kept the ball when his 18-year TaylorMade club contract ended in 2024, and every 2026 source we checked still lists it.

### Does Dustin Johnson carry a 9-wood?

Yes. His long game runs 3HL at 16.5°, a 21° 7-wood and a 24° 9-wood, with no irons longer than a 5-iron. It is a high-launch, soft-landing setup rather than a distance play.

### Who does Dustin Johnson have an equipment deal with?

Nobody, on clubs. He split with TaylorMade in 2024 after 18 years and now plays a mixed bag — Titleist driver, TaylorMade woods, irons and ball, with the wedge slot listed variously as Cleveland or Titleist Vokey depending on the source.
