# Jason Day's WITB: boutique prototype irons and seven-year-old woods

> Another free agent with an unusually personal set-up — a Ping driver, TaylorMade fairways he has kept for years, and prototype irons and wedges from boutique maker Avoda on graphite shafts.

**Setup verified:** 2026-08-02

Jason Day's bag is the most unusual on the PGA Tour. He is an equipment free agent playing a Ping G430 LST driver, TaylorMade fairway woods several generations old, prototype irons and wedges from boutique brand Avoda, a TaylorMade Spider putter and a Bridgestone Tour B X ball.

The Avoda story is the interesting part: Day approached the small brand himself in late 2025 and plays prototype heads that differ from the retail versions, fitted with graphite KBS TGI iron shafts rather than the steel Dynamic Gold he used for most of his career. Meanwhile his fairway woods include a TaylorMade M6 and a Stealth 7-wood, clubs he keeps because they work rather than because anyone is paying him to.

## Quick facts
- **Tour:** PGA Tour

## Notes

Day plays without an equipment contract, mixing Ping, TaylorMade and Avoda. That freedom is why several clubs are years past their retail cycle.

The October 2025 changes were the significant ones: Avoda prototype irons and wedges in, and a move from True Temper Dynamic Gold X7 steel to KBS TGI graphite iron shafts.

His fairway woods are the quirk. Reports describe them as over seven years old, and the exact models in play rotate between M6, Aeroburner HL and Stealth-generation heads from event to event.

## FAQ

### What driver does Jason Day use?

A Ping G430 LST, listed at 10.5 degrees with a KBS TG Black 60 TXX shaft, with at least one source reporting it set weaker at the hosel. It is a previous-generation head he has held on to.

### What ball does Jason Day play?

The Bridgestone Tour B X, using the Mindset alignment marking on the cover.

### What irons does Jason Day play, and what is Avoda?

Avoda Prototype irons and wedges. Avoda is a small independent club maker; Day approached the brand himself and plays prototype heads that are not the same as the retail models, fitted with KBS TGI graphite iron shafts.

### Why are Jason Day's fairway woods so old?

Because he has no equipment deal, nothing forces him into the current model. His 3-wood and high wood slots have been filled by TaylorMade heads described as over seven years old, including an M6 and Stealth-generation woods.
