# Leona Maguire's WITB: no iron longer than a 7

> A Ping bag built back-to-front — five woods and hybrids stacked above a short iron set that starts at the 7-iron, with Titleist wedges and ball the only exceptions.

**Setup verified:** 2026-09-13

Leona Maguire is a Ping staff player whose bag is built around fairway woods and hybrids rather than long irons. Her irons start at the 7-iron — Ping i240 through to a utility wedge — with a Ping G430 LST driver and a stack of higher-lofted Ping woods and hybrids filling everything above that.

The 2026 Solheim Cup at Bernardus, her fourth consecutive appearance and one of Anna Nordqvist's captain's picks, brought the first real refresh of this bag in a year: a G440 Max 16° 3-wood, a G440 22° hybrid, Ping i240 irons and Titleist Vokey SM10 wedges all replaced the clubs she carried through 2025. The driver, the 17.5° and higher Ping hybrids, the long-serving Vault 2.0 Ketsch putter and the Titleist Pro V1 ball stayed put — so the two clubs that break the Ping pattern are still the wedges and the ball.

## Notes

The wait for a 2026 bag check is over. We flagged on 7 September, with the matches days away, that the newest source we would stand behind was still stamped December 2025 and that a Ping staffer on a G430 LST was exactly the sort of detail that could change unreported. Today's Golfer published a club-by-club list for all 24 Solheim Cup players on 13 September, and it vindicated the caution: four slots had moved. The 3-wood is now a G440 Max at 16°, the club above it is a G440 hybrid at 22° rather than the 23.5° fairway one outlet had listed, the irons are i240s, and the wedges are Vokey SM10s at 54° and 60° — the first firm loft-and-grind figures we have ever had for them. The driver did not change, which is the detail we were most prepared to be wrong about.

One caveat survives. LPGA bags are still documented far less thoroughly than PGA Tour ones: the Solheim list carries models and lofts but no shafts, so the shaft specs on the clubs she kept are carried over from the December 2025 check and the four new clubs have none. Golf Monthly's page still dates from August 2023 and National Club Golfer's from September 2024, the latter listing a Ping i120 that has never existed.

The defining feature of the bag is its shape rather than any one club: no irons longer than a 7-iron, and up to five woods and hybrids above them.

Maguire is a Ping staff player and also uses the brand's stand bag. Only the wedges and the ball come from elsewhere, both Titleist.

## FAQ

### What driver does Leona Maguire use?

A Ping G430 LST at 10.5° with a Graphite Design Tour AD HD-5 shaft. It is the low-spin model in the G430 family, and it was still in the bag at the 2026 Solheim Cup even though four other clubs changed around it.

### What irons does Leona Maguire play?

Ping i240s, running from the 7-iron to a utility wedge. She switched from the i230 in time for the 2026 Solheim Cup; before that she played the i210.

### What ball does Leona Maguire play?

A Titleist Pro V1 — one of only two non-Ping items in the bag, alongside her Vokey SM10 wedges.

### Why does Leona Maguire carry so many hybrids?

Her irons stop at the 7-iron, so the space between her 3-wood and her short irons is filled by higher-lofted Ping woods and hybrids up to around 30°. It is a launch-and-descent trade-off many LPGA players make in preference to hard-to-hit long irons.

### What putter does Leona Maguire use?

A Ping Vault 2.0 Ketsch, set to 3.5° of loft and a 20° lie. It is one of the most stable clubs in her bag, appearing in every bag check we found over several seasons.
