# Phil Mickelson's WITB: two drivers, two 5-irons, four putters

> No club contract, Ping woods on top, and a set of Callaway blades from 2013 in the middle. Mickelson's bag is the strangest in professional golf and he keeps adding to it.

**Setup verified:** 2026-09-07

Phil Mickelson has had no club contract since the Callaway relationship ended, and the bag he has assembled since is unlike anyone else's in professional golf: Ping woods at the top, Callaway X Forged blades from 2013 through the middle, and a rotation of putters rather than a putter.

He carries two drivers, keeps a second 5-iron for the weeks the blade is too little club, and swaps between four putters depending on conditions. Almost none of it is this year's equipment and almost none of it matches.

## Quick facts
- **Tour:** LIV Golf
- **Clubs:** No contract
- **Driver:** Ping G440 LST (9°)

## Notes

The two drivers and two 5-irons are the headline, but the putters are the real quirk: four in rotation, including a rough-milled Odyssey PM prototype he uses specifically in the wet. Coverage names different PM models as the gamer, which is what you would expect from someone who rotates.

The irons are Japan-only Callaway X Forged blades from 2013 — thirteen-year-old clubs in a bag with a current Ping driver on top of it.

One caveat on sourcing, stated plainly: this entry rests on one 2026 listing, updated 7 September, with a 2025 build corroborating the architecture. That is a lower bar than most pages on this hub, and it is only acceptable because his setup has barely moved in years. Some coverage ties his hybrid to the 2013 Open win; he was a contracted Callaway staffer that year, so that claim cannot be right as stated and is not repeated here.

## FAQ

### What driver does Phil Mickelson use?

A Ping G440 LST at 9 degrees with a Graphite Design Tour AD VF-6 X shaft, and he travels with a Callaway Elyte as a second driver.

### Why does Phil Mickelson carry two drivers?

He has no club contract and builds the bag slot by slot, keeping a second head available depending on the course. He does the same with irons, carrying a Rogue ST Pro 5-iron alongside the blade.

### What irons does Phil Mickelson play?

Japan-only Callaway X Forged blades from 2013, 5-iron through pitching wedge, on Mitsubishi MMT 115 TX shafts.

### How many putters does Phil Mickelson use?

Four in rotation: an Odyssey PM blade, a rough-milled PM prototype he favours in wet weather, and two L.A.B. mallets — the MEZZ.1 MAX and the OZ.1.
