# Preston Stout's WITB: the last GT3 at the Walker Cup

> The world's top-ranked amateur plays a full Titleist bag — and a driver a generation behind the one everyone else switched to.

**Setup verified:** 2026-09-05

Preston Stout is the world's number one amateur and the 2026 McCormack Medal winner, still at Oklahoma State and named preseason number one in the PGA Tour University Class of 2027.

The bag is Titleist throughout, and the driver is the detail. Titleist replaced its GT line with GTS for 2026, and of the ten Titleist drivers at the Walker Cup at Lahinch, Stout had the only GT3 left — while the 3-wood above it is a GTS prototype from the new generation.

## Quick facts
- **Status:** Amateur — world No. 1, Oklahoma State
- **Clubs:** Titleist
- **Driver:** Titleist GT3 (8°)
- **Ball:** Titleist Pro V1

## Notes

Four wedges under a 9-iron, a T250 3-iron on top, and no hybrid or 5-wood at all. It is a long-iron player's bag rather than a modern high-launch one, which is unusual for a 22-year-old.

He plays a full Titleist bag, but that is an observation about the clubs and not a claim about a contract. No reputable source states a Titleist NIL or sponsorship arrangement, so this page does not either.

One sourcing caveat worth stating: the driver and putter are confirmed by two dated sources, but the 3-wood, irons and wedges rest on a single July bag check. Treat the middle of this bag as less settled than the ends.

## FAQ

### What driver does Preston Stout use?

A Titleist GT3 at 8 degrees with a Mitsubishi Tensei 1K Black 60 X shaft — the previous generation. At the 2026 Walker Cup he was the only player still using a GT3.

### Is Preston Stout sponsored by Titleist?

He plays a full Titleist bag, but no reputable source states a sponsorship or NIL arrangement, so it should not be assumed. He remains an amateur at Oklahoma State.

### What irons does Preston Stout play?

Titleist T100 from 4-iron to 9-iron on Project X Rifle 6.5, with a T250 3-iron above them as a driving iron.

### How many wedges does Preston Stout carry?

Four — Vokey SM11 at 45 (bent from 46), 50 and 54 degrees, plus a WedgeWorks 58K. He carries no hybrid or 5-wood.
