A premium half-zip mid layer built from Galvin Green's INSULA warming fabric. The material has tiny air chambers that your body heat warms up, so it holds onto warmth without the weight or puffiness of a traditional insulated jacket. It is cut slim and stretchy so it moves with your swing, and it is designed to sit either as your top layer on a mild cold day or as the warmth engine under a shell when the weather turns.
What's great
The warmth-to-bulk ratio is the headline. It feels like a thin sweater but insulates far better than one, and the four-way stretch means you genuinely forget you are wearing a thermal layer mid-round. Breathability is properly thought through, so you do not overheat and clam up on the walk up a hill. It layers under a waterproof jacket without bunching, the fabric is 100 percent recycled, and the finish and piping look smart enough to wear off the course.
Worth knowing
It is the thick end of 130 quid for what is, at the end of the day, a half-zip mid layer, and you can get warm for far less if you do not care about the cut or fabric tech. The slim, snug fit is great for layering but unforgiving if you prefer room to move or plan to pile a chunky jumper underneath, so size up if you are between sizes. As pure insulation it is not windproof or waterproof on its own, so on a genuinely raw, blowy day you will still want a shell over the top.
The verdict
If you play through winter and want a mid layer that actually keeps you warm while moving freely, this is one of the best in its class and worth the money. Casual or fair-weather golfers will find cheaper fleeces do most of the job. Buy it for the layering and the stretch, not as a standalone cold-weather jacket.
