England's golf splits into two glories: the Surrey/Berkshire heathland belt near London — Sunningdale, Wentworth, Walton Heath — and the Open Championship links of the coast.

England's golf comes in two great flavours. Inland, the Surrey/Berkshire 'heathland belt' just west of London — Sunningdale, Wentworth, Swinley Forest, Walton Heath — is the home of strategic golf on free-draining sand, all heather, pine and birch. On the coast sit the Open Championship links, from Royal Birkdale and Royal Lytham to Royal St George's.
