Shiho Kuwaki's WITB: the all-Bridgestone bag that won the AIG

Kuwaki won the 2026 AIG Women's Open at Royal Lytham with thirteen Bridgestone clubs, a yellow ball and one Italian putter — and almost every English listing of this bag is wrong.

Shiho Kuwaki won the 2026 AIG Women's Open at Royal Lytham & St Annes on 2 August, beating Esther Henseleit on the second playoff hole for her first major.

The bag is Bridgestone almost end to end — driver, fairway, two utilities, irons, wedges and a yellow Tour B XS — with a single Piretti putter breaking it up. It is a JLPGA-style top end that the English-language WITB pages consistently get wrong.

The story of the bag

Thirteen of the fourteen clubs are Bridgestone, and so is the ball. The Piretti GSS putter is the single exception and Japanese coverage flags it as a new addition this season.

The English-language listings of this bag are wrong, and it is worth saying so. They give her an Odyssey White Hot OG 2-Ball putter, a driver at 9.5°, one utility and a 4-iron-to-pitching-wedge set. The per-event Japanese settings have a Piretti putter, 9°, two utilities and 5-PW. This page follows the Japanese sources.

She beat Esther Henseleit, also on this hub, on the second playoff hole — it was the first major and first LPGA win of either player's career to that point.

Frequently asked

What clubs did Shiho Kuwaki win the AIG Women's Open with?
An almost entirely Bridgestone bag: a BX1LS driver at 9 degrees, a B1ST 3-wood, two BX2HT utilities at 19 and 22 degrees, 241CB irons from 5 to pitching wedge, BITING SPIN wedges and a yellow Tour B XS ball. The only exception was a Piretti Potenza LN GSS putter.
What putter does Shiho Kuwaki use?
A Piretti Potenza LN GSS, a tour-only blade and a new addition for her 2026 season. English-language listings that show an Odyssey White Hot OG are carrying forward a stale entry.
What ball does Shiho Kuwaki play?
A yellow Bridgestone Tour B XS, the 2026 model.
Does Shiho Kuwaki carry hybrids?
She carries two Bridgestone BX2HT utility clubs, at 19 and 22 degrees, and her iron set does not start until the 5-iron — a top-end setup common on the JLPGA.
