Phil Mickelson's WITB: two drivers, two 5-irons, four putters
No club contract, Ping woods on top, and a set of Callaway blades from 2013 in the middle. Mickelson's bag is the strangest in professional golf and he keeps adding to it.
By Jordan Hale · Equipment Writer
Phil Mickelson has had no club contract since the Callaway relationship ended, and the bag he has assembled since is unlike anyone else's in professional golf: Ping woods at the top, Callaway X Forged blades from 2013 through the middle, and a rotation of putters rather than a putter.
He carries two drivers, keeps a second 5-iron for the weeks the blade is too little club, and swaps between four putters depending on conditions. Almost none of it is this year's equipment and almost none of it matches.

The story of the bag
The two drivers and two 5-irons are the headline, but the putters are the real quirk: four in rotation, including a rough-milled Odyssey PM prototype he uses specifically in the wet. Coverage names different PM models as the gamer, which is what you would expect from someone who rotates.
The irons are Japan-only Callaway X Forged blades from 2013 — thirteen-year-old clubs in a bag with a current Ping driver on top of it.
One caveat on sourcing, stated plainly: this entry rests on one 2026 listing, updated 7 September, with a 2025 build corroborating the architecture. That is a lower bar than most pages on this hub, and it is only acceptable because his setup has barely moved in years. Some coverage ties his hybrid to the 2013 Open win; he was a contracted Callaway staffer that year, so that claim cannot be right as stated and is not repeated here.
