Céline Boutier's WITB: the bag with no driver in it

Boutier's longest club is an 11° PXG Secret Weapon mini driver. Below it sit three hybrids and a six-club iron set. Every club, club by club.

Céline Boutier does not carry a driver. Her longest club is a PXG Secret Weapon mini driver at 11°, and the rest of the bag is built to suit that decision: a single Ping G425 LST fairway wood at 14.5°, then three PXG hybrids at 19°, 22° and 25°, and an iron set that only runs from the 6-iron down. Where most tour players stack length at the top and irons underneath, Boutier has done close to the opposite.

It is not a bag built by someone short of pedigree. Boutier has seven LPGA wins including the 2023 Amundi Evian Championship — her home major, won by six shots with four rounds in the 60s — and added the ShopRite LPGA Classic again in May 2026. Bernardus was her fifth Solheim Cup; she lost her Sunday singles to Rose Zhang 2 up, but Europe won the Cup 15–13 regardless.

    PXG Secret Weapon

    11° · Mitsubishi Diamana WB 53 S

Her longest club. Today's Golfer's 8 September check and its Solheim round-up both list it in place of a driver, not alongside one.

We've put gear from Céline's bag head to head:

The story of the bag

The mini driver is the whole story. A Secret Weapon at 11° is shorter and more lofted than a driver, which costs distance and buys control off the tee — and then the bag compensates for the lost length at the other end, with three hybrids doing the work most players give to long irons. It is an unusually coherent set of choices rather than one eccentric club.

Her iron set is four clubs long. Between the 25° hybrid and the 52° wedge there are only five heads: 6, 7, 8, 9 and a 0311 T GEN4 pitching wedge. Most tour bags run six or seven.

One honest gap: the published lists account for thirteen clubs. No outlet names the fourteenth, and we would rather leave the hole visible than invent a club to fill it.
