Lauren Coughlin's WITB: four wood heads and no long irons
Coughlin's iron set starts at the 6-iron. Above it sit two fairway woods and two hybrids — a long game built almost entirely out of wood heads. Every club, club by club.

Lauren Coughlin plays Ping from driver to putter, and the shape of the bag is the interesting part. Between the G440 K driver and the 6-iron she carries four heads: G440 Max fairway woods at 13.75° and 19°, then G425 hybrids at 21° and 26°. The iron set — Ping i240s — does not start until the 6-iron, and the short game is two s259 wedges at 52° and 58°.
Coughlin turned professional in 2016, came through the Symetra Tour and won there in 2018 before taking her LPGA card at Q-School. She won twice in three weeks in 2024, at the CPKC Women's Open and the ISPS Handa Women's Scottish Open, added the Aramco Championship in April 2026, and went 3-0-1 on her Solheim Cup debut in 2024. Bernardus was her second; the United States lost 13–15.

Lauren Coughlin's bag

Driver
9°
Ping's highest-MOI, draw-biased head. Maja Stark plays the same model.

Fairway woods
13.75° & 19°
A strong 3-wood and something close to a 5-wood. Two fairway woods and two hybrids is a lot of wood heads for one bag.
- PingHybrids
Hybrids
Ping G425 Hybrid
21° & 26°
Two generations behind the metalwoods above them — G425 dates to 2021 — and retired, so these rows carry no CTA. A 26° hybrid sits roughly where a 5-iron would.

Irons
6-PW
A five-club set. There are no long irons in this bag at all.

Wedges
52° & 58°
Only two wedges, which is the other half of the trade — the extra slots went into the long game.

The story of the bag
This is a bag built around not hitting long irons. Four wood-and-hybrid heads cover everything from the tee down to roughly a 5-iron distance, the iron set is five clubs, and there are only two wedges. Most tour bags run the other way — three wedges and a longer iron set — so Coughlin has effectively traded a scoring club for a long-game club.
The hybrids are the oldest clubs in the bag. G425 launched in 2021 and Ping has released the G430 and G440 families since, yet the 21° and 26° heads have stayed while the driver and fairway woods moved to G440.
One honest gap: the published list accounts for thirteen clubs — driver, two fairway woods, two hybrids, five irons, two wedges and the putter. No outlet names the fourteenth, so we leave the hole visible rather than invent a club to fill it.
Her 2024 setup was different enough to be worth noting: National Club Golfer's September 2024 check had her on a G430 Max 10K driver, one fairway wood, i230 irons and a Blueprint S 48° wedge. Everything except the PLD Oslo putter has turned over since.
