The ifrothgolf review
The ProTee VX is an overhead launch monitor that mounts to your ceiling rather than sitting on the floor or behind you. Two high-speed cameras with AI tracking watch the ball and club from above, so you get full ball flight and club delivery numbers without sticking dots on anything. It is built to be the brain of a dedicated simulator room rather than a portable range tool.
What's great
The ceiling mount is the real selling point: nothing clutters your hitting bay, and it reads right and left-handers without moving a thing, which makes it brilliant for a shared family or commercial room. The 25 by 21 inch hitting zone is genuinely forgiving, you get a deep set of club data most camera units skip, and crucially there is no subscription, the price you pay is the price forever. UK buyers also tend to get two swing cameras thrown in.
Worth knowing
This is not a grab-and-go gadget. At over 6,000 GBP it is a serious investment, and the overhead design only works if you have the ceiling height (around 9 to 10 feet) and are willing to mount it permanently. There is no portable use case here, and the all-in simulator cost climbs once you add a screen, mat and PC. Overhead camera units can also be fussier than radar units in rooms with awkward lighting.
The verdict
If you are committing to a permanent indoor setup with the ceiling height to suit it, the VX is one of the smartest-value overhead units going, mostly because it ditches the subscription trap. If you want something portable or you are tight on room height, look elsewhere.
