Minjee Lee's WITB: the broomstick that won a major
Three seasons outside the top 120 in putting, then a 42-inch broomstick and a third major. Plus regular-flex woods, composite iron shafts, and one club she refused to give up when she changed sponsors.

This is essentially the bag Minjee Lee won the 2025 KPMG Women's PGA Championship with — one club has changed since, a new Callaway Quantum Max driver she put in play at her 2026 season opener — and the headline is still the putter: a 42-inch Odyssey Ai-ONE Square 2 Square #7 Cruiser broomstick. She had finished outside the top 120 on the LPGA in strokes gained putting in 2022, 2023 and 2024. Her longtime coach Ritchie Smith suggested the broomstick over the winter. She ranked 8th on tour in putting in 2025 and led the field in putting at the major she won.
She joined Callaway in February 2024, so this is a near-full staff build — with one telling exception, and a shaft setup that quietly contradicts what most amateurs believe about flex. Her brother is Min Woo Lee, who plays the same brand and the same ball with almost the opposite philosophy.

New for 2026, and she called the switch herself at her season opener in Singapore: "I also put in the new quantum driver, so that's in the bag this week." It replaces the standard Callaway Elyte she won the 2025 KPMG with, and continues a two-step move away from the tour-only Triple Diamond head she played in 2024 toward the bigger, more forgiving model in each Callaway family. Caveat on the exact head: she named the family, not the model. The Max identification and the 10.5° come from a sole-stamp photo read at April's Chevron Championship, and Callaway's 2026 line also contains a Triple Diamond Max that carries a MAX stamp. Nobody has re-reported her driver shaft since the Elyte build (Mitsubishi Diamana WB, regular).

Switched over the 2024–25 offseason. Sources differ on the head: golf.com's KPMG-winning bag check listed the #7 Cruiser, while Callaway's own staff page shows the Square 2 Square Jailbird broomstick centre-shaft. Both are 2 Square broomsticks, so we describe the slot rather than pick a side. Either way hers is a custom length — the retail versions are 38".

The story of the bag
The broomstick is the story, and the numbers are stark. Outside the top 120 in strokes gained putting for three consecutive seasons, then 8th in 2025. "The roll is way better on the broomstick," she said. She led the field in putting at Fields Ranch East and won the KPMG Women's PGA by three. If you've spent years assuming a long putter is an admission of defeat, a three-time major champion has a different view.
Her shaft setup is the single most useful thing here for club golfers. She plays regular flex in her fairway woods — Fujikura Ventus Red 6 R in both — and played a regular-flex Mitsubishi Diamana WB in the Elyte driver the Quantum replaced, alongside stiff composite Aerotech SteelFiber i80 shafts in the irons and regular-flex steel in the wedges. A multiple major winner plays R-flex woods. Flex labels aren't transferable between shafts or manufacturers, and "stiff because pros play stiff" is backwards for most amateurs.
She won a major with an iron American golfers couldn't buy. The Callaway X Forged was a Japan-market and tour-only iron that gained traction on the DP World, Asian, KLPGA and JLPGA tours. It only reached US retail in late July 2025 — about a month after she lifted the KPMG trophy with it.
The sibling contrast is genuinely instructive. Minjee and Min Woo Lee are both Callaway staffers playing the Chrome Tour X, and both game X Forged iron heads. Then it diverges completely: he's on Ventus Black VeloCore+ 7X and Nippon Modus3 125 X steel; she's on regular-flex Diamana and Ventus Red with SteelFiber composite. Same brand, same ball, opposite philosophies — X-flex steel against R-flex composite.
Honest caveat on recency, updated 2 September 2026. No editorial outlet has published a full dated 2026 bag check for her — LPGA equipment coverage is thin. What we do have is better than nothing and worse than a bag check: her own on-record comment at the HSBC Women's World Championship in February 2026 confirming a new Quantum driver, and a photo-derived April 2026 check at the Chevron Championship that identifies the head as the Max and leaves every other club as it was in 2025. So the driver row is a genuine 2026 change; the other thirteen slots are still the 2025 KPMG-winning build carried forward. Her 2026 has been difficult — missed cuts at the KPMG she was defending and at Evian, and a withdrawal at the Women's Scottish Open — which is part of why nobody has photographed her bag in detail.
