Sam Burns' WITB: a Callaway bag with Titleist wedges

A Callaway staffer from driver to golf ball, with one deliberate exception — he moved to Titleist's Vokey SM11 wedges at the start of 2026.

Sam Burns plays one of the purest sets on the PGA Tour: Callaway Apex MB blades from 4-iron through pitching wedge, behind a Callaway Quantum Triple Diamond S driver and a Callaway Chrome Tour X ball. The long end is unusually tidy for a player of his speed, with a matching Quantum Triple Diamond 3-wood and a single Apex UW filling the gap to the blades.

The interesting wrinkle is the scoring end. Burns is a Callaway staff player, but he moved to Titleist Vokey SM11 wedges at the start of the 2026 season, so his three most-used clubs into greens carry a rival badge. The putter is an Odyssey Ai-One 7S mallet, a mid-mallet rather than the blade you might expect alongside blade irons.

The story of the bag

The headline 2026 change is the wedges: Burns moved into Titleist Vokey SM11 heads at the start of the season, making him a Callaway staffer with a Titleist scoring set.

Both his driver and 3-wood are Quantum Triple Diamond heads played a degree open of their stamped loft, so the stated 9° and 15° are not his playing lofts.

The Apex UW at 21° replaces a conventional hybrid or long iron and has been singled out as a club he leans on at Augusta National.

Frequently asked

What driver does Sam Burns use?
A Callaway Quantum Triple Diamond S, a 9° head set to 10°, fitted with a Fujikura Ventus Blue 7 TX shaft. It is the lower-spinning Triple Diamond build rather than the standard Quantum head.
What ball does Sam Burns play?
The Callaway Chrome Tour X, the firmer and lower-spinning of Callaway's two tour balls.
Why does Sam Burns play Titleist wedges if he is a Callaway staffer?
Wedges are commonly carved out of tour club deals, and Burns moved into Titleist Vokey SM11 heads at the start of the 2026 season. He carries three of them alongside an otherwise Callaway-and-Odyssey bag.
What irons does Sam Burns use?
Callaway Apex MB musclebacks from 4-iron to pitching wedge with Project X 6.5 shafts — a full blade set, which is unusual even on the PGA Tour.
