Rickie Fowler's WITB: a near-total rebuild, and no 3-wood
Fowler changed almost every club for 2026, and the top of the bag is unusual — driver, then a mini driver, then an 18-degree 5-wood, with no 3-wood at all.
By Jordan Hale · Equipment Writer
Rickie Fowler rebuilt almost his entire bag for 2026. He plays a Cobra OPTM X driver, prototype Cobra 3DP RF irons with 3D-printed bodies, and — after a spell with low-torque putters — a centre-shafted Scotty Cameron GoLo prototype head he had sitting at home since 2012.
The other quirk is the top of the bag. Fowler carries no conventional 3-wood: it is driver, then a mini driver, then an 18° Cobra King Tec 5-wood with rails on the sole. He also moved back to a Titleist Pro V1 after his TaylorMade ball deal expired, citing a lower, more wind-friendly flight.

Carried over from a 2025 prototype, refitted with the white LIN-Q profile in place of the blue. Golf Monthly reported a spell in a Cobra OPTM Max-K head from the RBC Heritage in April; the most recent bag checks have him back in the OPTM X.

A genuine source conflict: Golf Monthly and GolfWRX bag checks from May and July 2026 list the TaylorMade BRNR Copper, while golf.com's February interview described a Cobra King Tec Mini. The slot appears to rotate.

Sources conflict on this slot — Golf Monthly's May 2026 bag check listed a Cleveland RTZ Tour Rack 60° here, later checks a third Snakebite.

Putter
A centre-shafted GoLo head from 2012 that Fowler rediscovered at home and put back in play in January 2026, replacing an L.A.B. Golf DF2.1. Some listings label it a Circle T or Tour prototype; WITBhub records it as a T-5 Tour Prototype.

Ball
Back on the Pro V1 after his TaylorMade deal expired. Fowler's reasoning: it is the lower-launching, better flight into wind.

The story of the bag
Fowler changed nearly every club for 2026 — driver shaft, mini driver, 5-wood, irons, wedges, putter and ball all moved, and he explained the overhaul in a February 2026 interview with golf.com.
There is no conventional 3-wood in the bag. The gap between driver and the 18° King Tec 5-wood is covered by a mini driver, which he tested through 2025 before trusting it in competition.
The putter has long been a revolving door for him: an L.A.B. Golf DF2.1 and an Odyssey Versa Jailbird both preceded the return of the 2012 Scotty Cameron GoLo.
His fairway and mini-driver slots change often, so week-to-week bag checks disagree more at the top of the bag than anywhere else.
Frequently asked
- What driver does Rickie Fowler use?
- A 9° Cobra OPTM X with a UST Mamiya LIN-Q PowerCore White 7 TX shaft. He carried the head over from a 2025 prototype and changed the shaft profile for 2026, with a reported spell in a Cobra OPTM Max-K head around April.
- What ball does Rickie Fowler play?
- A Titleist Pro V1. He returned to it for 2026 once his TaylorMade ball contract expired, saying the Pro V1 gives him the lower launch and better wind flight he wanted.
- What putter is Rickie Fowler using in 2026?
- A centre-shafted Scotty Cameron GoLo prototype head that dates back to 2012. He found it at home, started messing about with it and put it in play in January 2026, benching his L.A.B. Golf mallet.
- Does Rickie Fowler carry a 3-wood?
- No. He goes driver, then a mini driver, then an 18° Cobra King Tec Rail prototype 5-wood, so there is no traditional 15° 3-wood in the bag.
