Elvis Smylie's WITB: the left-hander who won on debut

Smylie beat Jon Rahm by one at LIV Riyadh in his first event as a member. Three months later he had a new GTS2 driver, a second Ping wood and no long iron. All of it built left-handed.

Elvis Smylie won LIV Golf Riyadh in February 2026 on his debut as a member, beating Jon Rahm by a shot. He plays for Ripper GC and finished thirteenth in the individual standings.

By the PGA Championship in May the bag had moved on from the one that won Riyadh: a Titleist GTS2 driver in place of the GT3, and a Ping G440 Max 7-wood where the T200 3-iron used to be. It is Titleist apart from the two Ping fairway woods, and every club is built left-handed, which matters because the model pages linked below default to right-handed listings.

New since Riyadh, where he won with a GT3. Same loft and same shaft model, now in the 2026 GTS head.

Same head as at Riyadh; the shaft photographed in May is a Ventus TR rather than the Ventus Black listed in February.

Added since Riyadh. It takes the place of the T200 3-iron, which isn't in the May photos.

The lofts have changed since February, when the set was 46°, 56°, 58° and 60°: a 50° is now in, and the lob wedge's loft isn't legible in the photos. Neither source states the generation, so we don't name one.

February sources disagreed between a Newport GS and a Newport GSS. The May photos show the GSS stamp on a 350g Circle T head.

The story of the bag

Re-verified on 6 October 2026 against GolfWRX's staff photo album from the 2026 PGA Championship, posted 12 May. The photos show three changes since the Riyadh win in February: a GTS2 driver for the GT3, a 21° G440 Max 7-wood in place of the T200 3-iron, and KBS Tour-V shafts in the irons and wedges where Modus3 had been listed. The wedge lofts have also moved, to 46°, 50°, 56° and a lob wedge. That makes fourteen clubs: three woods, six irons, four wedges and a putter.

What the photos don't settle: the Vokey generation (SM10 or SM11), the lob wedge's loft, and the ball, which isn't pictured. The ball row still comes from February. A rib injury then forced him out of The Open in July, and nothing dated since documents a full bag, so treat this as his May setup.

He is left-handed. Where a row links to a product page, that page will default to a right-handed listing.
